MONTGOMERY COMMUNITY MAGNETIC IMAGING CENTER RECEIVES ACR ACCREDITATION |
Olney, Maryland, November, 1999: Montgomery Community Magnetic Imaging Center (MCMIC) has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in MRI as a result of a recent, rigorous evaluation by the American College of Radiology (ACR). MCMIC is one of only five MRI facilities accredited in the state of Maryland and the only accredited outpatient center in Montgomery County. The ACR awards accreditation to MRI practices for the achievement of high practice standards after a requested voluntary evaluation. Evaluations are conducted by radiologists and physicists who are members of the ACR with special expertise in MRI. The ACR assesses the primary factors which impact the quality of the clinical images and the quality of patient care. This includes evaluation of the qualifications of the MRI personnel, evaluation of equipment performance, effectiveness of quality control measures, review of all policies and procedures and imaging protocols and an examination of the MRI images. The American College of Radiology is a national organization servicing more than 30,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, and medical physicists, with programs focusing on the practice of radiology and the delivery of comprehensive health services. The ACR Committee on MRI Accreditation evaluates and accredits MRI practices in hospitals and in private offices across the United Sates. MCMIC, operated by Community Radiology Associates, has been serving members of the Olney community and surrounding areas since 1988. Community Radiology has been providing quality imaging services to the Washington Metropolitan area for 20 years. The imaging practice consists of thirteen board-certified radiologists in a variety of subspecialties and provides a range of imaging services including mammography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, biopsy, nuclear medicine and DEXA scanning at nine outpatient imaging centers located throughout Montgomery and Prince George's counties. In addition, the radiologists of Community Radiology provide consultative services to Montgomery General Hospital. MCMIC is located at 18103 Prince Philip Drive in Olney, Maryland. |
